Regeneration for the next generation
Regeneration for the next generation
The council and partners acknowledge that substantial development has already taken place with recent investment in the public realm, private sector housing and a new leisure centre. We are keen to ensure that this momentum continues and have allocated a number of key development sites within the emerging Local Plan. These sites provide an opportunity for an enhanced mix of uses, new homes, new open space and green infrastructure and improved connectivity.

The Square
The new shape for shopping in Camberley
Having acquired the former Mall shopping centre in 2016 we have transformed the retail environment.
An £8 million refurbishment has provided a bright contemporary place for businesses to thrive with a new name and brand reflecting its position at the core of our town centre.
The Square now provides 480,000 sq ft of covered shopping and is home to national and leading independent retailers. Brands include Primark, Boots, New Look, JD, TK Maxx and Sainsbury’s.

Places Leisure
Putting leisure into the right shape
Summer 2021 saw the completion of a state of the art £22 million leisure centre in partnership with Places Leisure and Pellikaan Construction Ltd. The centre was successfully delivered through the pandemic period on time and on budget despite the challenges faced by the construction industry. With a swimming pool, gym, exercise bike, multi-sports areas and climbing walls, the leisure centre is a roaring success with attendance levels averaging 80,000 a month and memberships exceeding all expectations.

The High Street
Upgraded and looking to the future
Large scale improvements to Camberley High Street, Princess Way and Knoll Walk have brought a safer, modern and attractive space to the town centre.
The redesign has created an attractive environment that is pedestrian and cyclist friendly whilst accommodating the needs of parking, servicing and safer driving conditions for vehicles.
High quality materials, including granite paving, kerbs, planters and finishes have created an attractive, modern place with modern street furniture – including benches, cycle racks, bins and wayfinding signs.
Wider, clearer pavements have improved accessibility for the elderly, families and disabled, coupled with traffic calming interventions to increase safety.
Public art with ‘Camberley’s Streets of Gold’, Trees and plants, landscaping works and have made a more welcoming environment.
Current improvement works are now taking place in Pembroke Broadway and Arnold Walk. Bringing new bus stops, lighting, artwork and flooring.

Ashwood House
Luxury town centre living and retail
In its prominent location connecting Princess Way with Pembroke Broadway and the railway station, Ashwood House has been re-modelled. The result is a complete transformation with new flexible ground floor commercial spaces and 116 new luxury apartments delivered by Berkeley Homes above. The scheme also improves facilities for bus passengers, with an enhanced waiting area and linkage through to the town centre shops.

The Atrium
A perfect place to meet, eat and play
Whilst not necessarily one of the new investments in the town centre The Atrium, continues to be a great draw with, soft-play, bowling alley, VUE cinema and shops with brands including H&M, Nando’s, Pizza Express, Chiquito, Wagamama, Starbucks, Wildwood and Pandora making it a great place to eat and play.
